Pomatt: excursion material at Passo San Giacomo (06/27/2010)

Our excursion to the San Giacomo Pass, located on the border with Switzerland (Bedretto views of the valley) at an altitude of 2313 m, starting from the small town of Riale (1740 m) where you can park your car.

From here an easy paved road (no entry) takes us in steady ascent up the Alpe Toggia (2156 m) with magnificent views over Lake Morasco (1815 m) and the peaks that surround it.

little further we come to the shelter Maria Luisa (the only refuge in the area) at an altitude of 2157 m near the dam of Lake Toggia (2191 m).
After a short stop for coffee continue uphill until you reach the dam of Lake Toggia and continue on the path to the left of the lake that crosses the entire valley Toggia, up to the Passo San Giacomo at the border between Italy and Switzerland, where we find the remains of what was the custom house, now abandoned.

A long walk with great views over lakes and mountains, accompanied by the whistling marmots and from time to time by the continuous flow of water from small streams created by the melting of heavy snowfalls of the winter past.

The distance traveled by Riale Passo San Giacomo is about 8.1 km with an altitude difference of 573 meters.
A pleasant hike in the mountains where I suggest you bring sunscreen, sunglasses and hats as well as a wind-proof vest and a fleece (in case of bad weather) because there are points of shade trees where you can fix it from the sun.

Corvara in Badia - Val Badia, the heart of the Dolomites

 

La mia prima vacanza sulle Dolomiti è stata qui, in Val Badia, che viene considerata il “cuore delle Dolomiti”. Me ne sono subito innamorato, grazie alla cordialità dei suoi abitanti, dove si percepiscono ancora le antiche tradizioni della cultura ladina che sono tutt’oggi tramandate di generazione in generazione e soprattutto allo splendido paesaggio di alcune delle più belle cime delle Dolomiti.

Qui la natura non ha trascurato nessun dettaglio: una vallata piena di prati verdi adagiata ai piedi del Sassongher (montagna simbolo di Corvara in Badia) da un lato e dal Gruppo del Sella dall’altro fino ad arrivare, passando per Colfosco che essendo situato a 1645 mslm è il paese abitato più alto dell’Alta Badia, al Passo Gardena.

E se vuoi avere un ricordo ancora più indelebile, non puoi perderti l’escursione semplice semplice sull’altopiano del Pralongia: un Panorama (è d’obbligo la P maiuscola) di rara bellezza sia in estate che in inverno, dove la vista spazia dalla Marmolada, Gran Vernel, al maestoso Gruppo del Sella, Passo Gardena, al Cir (versante sud del Parco Naturale Puez - Odle) e infine al Sassongher.

Questa è una dele tante escursioni che si possono effettuare da Corvara in Badia: Ti aspettano tanti chilometri di sentieri adatti a qualunque tipo di escursione, dalla semplice passeggiata per tutta la famiglia alle vie ferrate più impegnative (solo per esperti). Ce ne proprio per tutti i gusti, basta un piccolo accorgimento per rilassarsi e godere appieno dei magnifici panorami: restare sui sentieri segnati!

Se mai avrai occasione di passare di qui sia per un soggiorno di più giorni o anche solo per una visita giornaliera, vedrai che apprezzerai le parole che hai appena letto.

Cascata del Toce (Pomatt - Piedmont)

La Val Formazza famosa per le cime che la circondano ma soprattutto per la cascata del Toce, a mio parere una delle più belle delle Alpi, con un salto d'acqua di ben 143 metri e un fronte alla base di 60 metri.

A Te che non soffri di vertigini e vuoi provare una sensazione unica, il mio consiglio è di ammirare la cascata dal balconcino in legno posto sulla sua sommità: sospesi nel vuoto sopra le turbolente acque…..fantastico!

A causa dell'intervento dell'uomo per produrre energia elettrica, dal 1930 circa, puoi ammirare questa meraviglia solo per pochi periodi all'anno, indicativamente da metà giugno a fine settembre e in determinati orari.

A fianco della cascata si trova un albergo/ristorante (si mangia molto bene, te lo assicuro) e una piccola chiesetta che risale all'anno 1621, dedicata alla Madonna della Neve.

Nestled in a beautiful valley moraine is the natural mirror of the majestic Matterhorn, Mountain, symbol of the Aosta Valley and the Alps, indicating that a glacier once stood here in antiquity.

In nice weather with no wind the reflection observed is indeed charming, picture-postcard!

But why if his real name is Layet is called Blue Lake?
Simply because some algae on the bottom of the lake reflect these nuances of color.
