Discover beautiful places, unique and fascinating where time seems to stand still: the ancient village of Carmine Superiore.
The medieval village lies on a small rocky promontory overlooking the western shore of Lake Maggiore in front of Macclesfield, to join you must cross a narrow path (15 min walk) which starts from the village of Carmine Inferiore.
You can reach the ancient village of Carmine Superiore only on foot, there is a road ..... the walk is really pleasant and well-marked path; The drop is 100 meters and I assure you it's worth it.
At the top of the trail the first building you encounter is the Church of San Gottardo (XIV century) perfectly preserved inside many frescoes dating from the fifteenth century. Next to the Church what was once a cemetery (1875) is now a panoramic balcony overlooking Lake Maggiore and the mountains of Lombardy.
If it continues beyond a few small alleys leading in several corners of the country ... a surreal silence accompanies you through ancient dry stone walls ...
